We often hear that friends, family or colleagues don’t quite understand the heartbreak and upset that losing a pet can bring, which means grieving for a pet can be a very lonely experience. Sometimes it helps to share these feelings with someone who knows, from personal experience, how distressing pet loss can be, and who will listen with compassion and without judgement.
That's why we offer a wide range of Pet Bereavement Support services, to make sure that no matter what you need help with, you're never alone. Maybe you can’t quite find the words to express how you feel, are devastated by the absence of an animal, or you have questions about whether or not to get another pet.
It's common for people to worry they're being a burden to friends or family when it comes to experiencing grief, or you have worries about having to say goodbye to a pet who is still living. Turning to someone you know is there to listen can provide you with the safe space to discuss and work through your feelings, in your own time and way.
Please feel free to take a moment to review our In Memoriam page, dedicated to the dogs we and our clients have loved over the years.
Whether you're experiencing grief as a result of a pet passing, a theft or even the rehoming of an animal, we can help.
It doesn't matter if you are considering euthanasia, have recently had a pet put to sleep or you're calling about a loss that happened months or years ago - all grief is acknowledged and welcome.
Teddy was a firecracker of a dog. Typical beagle, he was able to sniff out chicken wings, fox poop or a Greggs sausage roll from 50 paces. He will be remembered for his happy howling at the start of walks.

In her prime, Roxy was an avid stick chaser who could walk for miles. Her best friends were Penny and Stan, who she would frequently be found cuddled up next to. A loyal and loving dog, with breath that could strip wallpaper - she is very missed by all who knew her.

Cuba was his owner's third Vizsla and a perfect example of the breed. In his younger years, he was the most gorgeous red and enjoyed chasing squirrels. As he got older, Cuba mellowed and became more interested in sniffing bluebells. Walks along the canal will never be the same.

Jess had a tendency to be a little grumpy on her walks as she got older, but that's only because she'd discovered what she liked (being asleep) and what she didn't (being on walks). A gorgeous girl with the best bum wiggle EVER!

What Molly lacked in size she made up for in personality. An absolute pocket rocket of a dog in her prime, we only knew her as a little old lady - but she was still full of fun and determined to find the best sniffs on a walk.
(03/05/2008 - 31/10/24)
Chewie loved nothing more than sleeping on Louise's foot, long walks in Sunnyhurst Woods and waiting for Adam to come home.
He was the absolute best of boys.
(08/09/21 - 12/06/23)
An American Bulldog - Dogue De Bordeaux cross, Penny was an interesting mix of both breeds. Full of energy on walks, but more than happy to snooze the rest of the day. Famous for carrying sticks the size of trees around Sunnyhurst Woods.

If you are considering euthanasia for your pet, we can provide a number of services to support you.
Deciding if the time is right to say goodbye to your best friend can be an almost impossible task. Having someone to talk things through with, outside of a consultation room, can help you reach some clarity. We can also speak to vets to help you feel able to make an informed decision on your pet's care, whether that's treatment options, palliative care or end of life.
Whether you have a support system and just want someone else on hand, or you feel alone - we are here for you. We can be with you whilst you say goodbye to your beloved pet, or be on hand to offer support to any other dogs in the home.
There are some circumstances where owners don't feel able to be present when their best friend passes. We know there are many reasons for this, and we don't judge. It's important to know your limits, but we can attend on your behalf, ensuring your wishes are carried out and your pet is held until the end.
Talking to someone after the loss of a pet can help you process your grief and begin to heal. We offer a number of counselling options.
Counselling is available over the phone, or via Skype depending on your preferences.
Counselling can take place in the comfort of your home or at a suitable venue of your choosing. Some of our clients find it easier to talk through their grief when enjoying a walk in nature.
We run a monthly support group in Darwen for people to gather and share their own experiences, supporting each other as they navigate the loss of their beloved pets.
